Myer Head mine is only a short walk up the valley from
Dodd End Mine. It is completely flooded and there is nothing to explore below ground.

These piers used to carry a 'launder' which is basically a water
channel, down to the waterwheel the bulding and wheel pit of which can be seen
to the right hand side. This wheel then moved rods connected to a balance bob at
the head of the shaft by the tree on the far bank, which in turn pumped the
mine out. |

Myers Head mine was a failure. The quantity and quality of ore was poor.
One ill fated day, miners struck a waterlogged vein which discharged water
into the mine at an alarming rate. The pump couldn't pump it out fast
enough the miners had to run for their lives and climb out of the shaft. |
