disused mines

Mines used to play a major role in the UK's economy. For this reason there are hundreds if not thousands of mines across the UK. Different minerals were extracted, metal ores, coal, even gold. Most lie in ruin, hidden beneath bracken in remote valleys.

The budding explorer can easily find their location and with a bit of research, entry can usually be granted quite easily.

They don't come without their hazards though. They are pretty dangerous places to visit, roof falls are commonplace, bad air can kill instantly. Many old mines have false floors that appear solid at first, but are simply rotting timbers jammed between the rock, a thin covering of stone disguising the ever decaying wood. Don't say I didn't warn you.
