Downstream from Processor, the massive inlet to Inhospitable is found. Unfortunatlely it gets too deep to go in this way, entry can only be gained from an adjoining drain - The Works.
After a treacherous scramble down a nettle infested bank and a wade through the River Irk, the perfect round brick entrance to The Works is found.
100m in and an old junction is bricked up. Where did this go? If only we knew because it is BIG!!
Just upstream you come across the staircase leading up to The Works chamber. The stairs are covered in flowstone deposits.
Upon reaching the top of the stairs, the impressive brick chamber looms overhead. Inhospitable flows through in a canal section, a massive gong like gate can be dropped into the flow to divert the whole stream through The Works.
Climbing up the manhole shaft towards the surface and an unusual intermediate passage goes off halfway up. At the end of which is the mechanism to operate the gong in the chamber below.
Jondoe about to enter Inhospitable. This drain goes for a long way, it becomes increasingly sewage infested and hasn't been explored to the end yet.
The outlet of Inhospitable. The flow by now is really turdy, a layer of fat covers the rocks in the stream bed, sanitary waste wrapped around overhanging trees. Gross.
